OLD HARRY GEOHAZARD SURVEY

Background

Corridor Resources Inc., since 1996, has had an interest in exploring the Old Harry petroleum prospect, considered to be one of the most promising unexplored offshore areas in Eastern Canada.

Old Harry is located in the Laurentian Channel, at a water depth of approximately 450 metres, in lands that lie within the offshore sectors of both Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador.  In 2008, Corridor acquired an exploration permit for the Old Harry area from the Canada - Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB).

The Current Program

The hydrocarbon potential of Old Harry is unproven, so Corridor is embarking on a cautious, phased approach to exploration in the area.

In the autumn of 2010, Corridor plans to conduct a geohazard survey over an area of approximately 4.5 by 5 kilometres.  This program will require about 60 hours of seabed survey time (echo sounder, sidscan sonar, sub-bottom profiler and low-intensity, high resolution seismic), plus an additional 1 to 2 days to collect seabed photographs and sediment samples.  These survey tools are typically used by university scientists and other researchers.

The geohazard survey, planned for the late summer or fall of 2010, will identify the type of sediment on the seafloor, sediment slumps, channels, shallow gas, potential ship wrecks, and any other significant features on the seabed.  (A full project description, and other regulatory documents, can be found on the C-NLOPB website at www.cnlopb.nl.ca/environment/corrgeo.shtml)

Ultimately, the goal of the geohazard survey is to ensure that any future exploration, which would be regulated under Canada’s rigorous offshore regulations, is conducted in a safe and responsible manner.

Next Steps and Ongoing Consultation

The geohazard survey is designed to allow Corridor to determine the appropriate next steps in the exploration of the Old Harry prospect.  A decision, which may include exploratory drilling, will only be made after the results of the geohazard survey have been carefully reviewed and analyzed.

Corridor will continue to keep the public informed of its plans throughout the C-NLOPB and NEB regulatory processes.  The company also pledges to keep key stakeholder groups, including fisheries organizations informed of proposed next steps regarding the Old Harry prospect.

Corridor, a junior oil and gas company based in Halifax, is committed to meeting or exceeding all regulatory requirements governing its activities.
